While they are there, Mo tells Meggie the whole story: he has the power to read things in and out of books, and ten years ago, he read three characters out of Inkheart, and Meggie's Mother, Resa ( Sienna Guillory), vanished into the book. Unfortunately, Meggie, Elinor and Mo are captured by the villains of Inkheart, Capricorn and Basta, who Mo read into the world. Capricorn takes them back to his castle and forces Mo to read things out of books for him. Mo accidentally reads out Farid, a boy from The Arabian Nights. Luckily, they, Meggie, Elinor, and Dustfinger escape together. In a small Italian village, they find the author of Inkheart, Fenoglio, who is overjoyed to hear about his story coming true. Dustfinger tells Mo that Resa is working as a maid in Capricorn's castle, having lost her voice when a man with the same powers as Mo stuttered while reading her out of the book. Meanwhile, Meggie finds out that she, too, has the power to read people in and out of books. The whole group, including Fenoglio, returns to the castle to rescue Resa, but Capricorn imprisons them again.

Der Film wirkt einfach mega lieblos und dies werfe ich ihn besonders vor. Lieber das Buch lesen, weil das hat es verdient gelesen zu werden:) Why is Jennifer Connelly in this? She's just about the most famous person in the cast and SPOILERS she has one line, is in like two tiny scenes, and just has no reason to be in this movie other than that she's married to one of the stars. The concept was interesting. The way they executed it though made me wish I was executed. I hate to say the book is probably better than the movie especially when it comes to a children's book series I've never read, let alone heard of, but Inkheart is very ambitious in a way that probably comes together most masterfully in writing. It faces the challenges of explaining this whole world that is a hybrid of reality and fantasy literature, mostly centering around the book Inkheart. It's quite meta but only pays off with Jim Broadbent as the fictional author. It's also a film sorely missing a comic relief. Paul Bettany is too brooding, Andy Circus is too hammy and Brendan Fraser is playing the straight man.
Synopsis Every story ever written is just waiting to become real. The adventures of a father and his young daughter, in their search for a long lost book that will help reunite a missing, close relative. I mean it's not like you suddenly develop powers; so you could choose LOTR but end up getting butt-fucked by a sexually frustrated Uruk-hai or you could get shoved up an Ent's asshole. (Do they have assholes? ) or you could join Harry Potter but you'd be a muggle and wouldn't even know about the wizards.. so that's pointless.

Time Out says 4 out of 5 stars Director Iain Softley – who more than earned his spurs with his sterling 1997 adaptation of Henry James's 'The Wings of the Dove' – relishes the task of bringing German author Cornelia Funke's quaint adventure novel to the screen, drawing a clutch of charismatic and amusingly hammy performances from his predominantly British cast while gently espousing the pleasures of reading. Like last year's guilty pleasure 'Enchanted', 'Inkheart' plays on the fantastical possibilities of an overlap between fiction and reality, homing in on actor Brendan Fraser, who yet again essays another of his affable khaki academics. He plays a 'Silvertongue' – no, not a stalwart on the regional blue comedy circuit – someone with the ability to bring the written word to life when he reads out aloud. Problems arise when he inadvertently unleashes the megalomaniacal Capricorn ( Andy Serkis as an amalgam of Gollum and a camp Bond villain) into the world while simultaneously incarcerating his wife into the pages of the titular novel.
While there are some interesting ideas manifested mostly in Fraser having… Recent reviews god wish that i had the power to bring the characters i create in my mind to life, that would be so cool I watched it on tv and I dont remember the title so I went to google and it found it. I want to rewatch without advertisement one more time. Thank google I just need the rules for magic to be established before you make a whole movie about magicccccc T. T as a kids film this movie is another breed Has the rich plot and characters of a book-to-movie adaptation, but also has all the plot holes my book nerd heart was squealing I'm curious to read the source material. What is Inkheart? The film offers up a long, somewhat trying narrative, and tries to answer that question, but not in a way that enchants or rivets. I can imagine plenty of texture on the page, but the characters didn't take off for me; I felt plopped in the middle of a world that supposedly carries import and purpose, but never feels like a journey.
